FABRIC OVERVIEW
About This Fabric
A 10oz deep-black high-stretch slub denim, 160 cm wide, combining cotton, polyester and 2.5% spandex for close-fitting jeans.
Is HW1004 Suitable for Your Jeans Production?
Consider HW1004 for slim, skinny or close-fitting jeans where ease of movement matters. Suitability depends on the pattern, measured recovery and the intended garment wash. Its recorded blend is 73% cotton, 24.5% polyester and 2.5% spandex, with a recorded width of 160 cm (approximately 63.0 inches; usable cutting width needs confirmation), 3/1 right-hand twill and a slub surface. This makes it distinct from rigid black fabric: pattern engineering must account for stretch direction, elastic recovery and the dimensional change created by finishing.
The 2.5% spandex figure describes fiber composition, not measured fabric extension. Stretch direction, yarn construction and finishing affect how the fabric moves. Before bulk cutting, confirm these points on the offered lot:
- Stretch direction and extension under an agreed test method and load.
- Recovery and residual growth after repeated extension and the intended wash; confirm fit on a sample garment.
- Warp/weft shrinkage after the agreed wash and drying process; no fixed result is published.
- Usable cutting width, relaxation time and spreading tension before marker costing.
- Washed black shade, dry/wet rubbing fastness and transfer onto pocketing, labels or other light trims.

Marker, Cutting and Sewing Guidance
Relax rolls before spreading, control ply tension and avoid stretching the cloth onto the table. Use short lays if the fabric continues to relax, and test notch accuracy on curved hip, knee and waistband pieces. Stabilize pocket openings and waist seams only where the design requires it, because excessive reinforcement can create hard zones beside an elastic body fabric.
Washing and Garment Development
Black high-stretch styles need lower mechanical stress and controlled temperature to protect elastane. Confirm the dye route, use anti-backstaining where appropriate and test whitening at seams after the full wash. Evaluate growth and recovery after laundering, not only shrinkage. Bulk approval should combine shade, stretch, recovery and garment measurements from the same test sample.
Buyer FAQ
Is 2.5% spandex enough to guarantee a no-bagging jean?
No. Yarn system, construction, finishing and pattern negative ease all affect retention. Confirm swatch and sample-yardage options, then test stretch and repeated recovery before fit approval.
Sampling note: Stock, lot, shade and technical performance can change. Request fabric swatches and confirm sampling and shipping terms. Small-swatch charges depend on the request; sample cards may be charged. International freight is usually borne by the customer and confirmed before dispatch. Confirm sample yardage and current test data before bulk production.
