Confirm the fiber description
Lyocell is a generic regenerated cellulosic fiber category. TENCEL™ is Lenzing’s trademark for eligible branded fibers and should only be used when that branded content can be verified for the specific fabric.
Ask for the complete composition, including the percentage of Lyocell and any cotton, polyester or elastane. A description such as “Lyocell denim” does not establish that the fabric is 100% Lyocell.
Check the denim construction
Before comparing options, record:
- weight in oz/yd² or g/m²;
- usable width;
- weave and slub character;
- rigid or stretch behavior;
- color and surface appearance;
- target handfeel and drape;
- intended garment and wash process.
Do not assume environmental claims
Lyocell content alone does not prove that a finished fabric is sustainable, eco-friendly or certified. If a buyer needs branded fiber, chain-of-custody, recycled-content or other certification evidence, the required document should be specified and checked for the exact fabric.
